Frequently Asked...
Q: What do you do when winter comes?

A: The same thing we're doing now, except of course that in the wintertime, the process of decomposition takes much more time. Basically, the compost we collect in the wintertime will be stored until springtime for processing, but as far as collection goes, we just keep on going.

COMPOST MONTRÉAL!
Q: I don't think I'll produce that much compost. Can we do a bi-weekly pickup?

A: Unfortunately, no. We have had this request a number of times, and have tried experimenting with it (against our better judgement), and it just doesn't work, for a number of reasons. Suffice it to say that without the structure of a weekly pickup, participants can forget to put out their bucket. 2 weeks is not the end of the world, but after 3 weeks, that compost is really stinky. Don't forget that we clean these buckets every week, so this is just not an option for us.
Q: Can I share my container with a neighbour?

A: Absolutely - we encourage it even. And if you happen to have a number of neighbours who are interested, and you suddenly need an extra bucket between you, just let us know. We'll charge a little bit extra, according to the circumstances, but it won't be much more.
Q: I'm interested in the service. Do you do collection in my neighbourhood?

A: So far, if you live in St. Henri, the Plateau, N.D.G., Hampstead, Outremont, Mile-End, Rosemont/Petite-Patrie, Villeray, or Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, you can get started right away! Get in touch with us, and we'll get you a bucket.

We are also maintaining waiting lists for other areas of town. If you're interested in the service, but you don't live in one of these neighbourhoods, call us or send an email with your name, address, and phone number. We will add your name to one of our lists and will let you know exactly when we have received enough requests in order to start a run in your area.
Q: Do you pick up from businesses, like cafés, restaurants, or office places?

A: We do indeed. The method of operation is a little different, of course, since we're generally talking about higher volumes of organic waste, but the principle is much the same, and getting the service is just about as simple. Just get in touch with us, explain the situation for us, and we'll figure something out in order to accomodate you.
